This work reflects the generational bonds that venerate the unity, strength, and compassion through lineages of Black women. These histories have started within the context of the ancestral generation and have been passed down to the elderly generation, the middle, and the youth. As this work depicts these women gathering around this quilt, ancestral connections become omnipresent, manifesting within this assembly. The unwavering strength of the ancestors have allowed for the persistence of Black Womanhood. In this sense, this presence takes place as the quilt itself. This piece stands in veneration of the unity, strength, and compassion of this shared identity. Here rises the Black Matriarchy
